This tank top is one of my all time favorite clothing items.  I got it a few years back while Jules and I were going to get some ramen noodles in Torrance, CA.  We pulled up to the small little shack with the Japanese food and ended up parking right in front of a second hand store.  After our lunch we were window shopping and the proprietor of the second hand store coaxed us into her shop.  It was  small place, but it had some really nice articles.  I SO wish I could remember what it was called and thus could give her a shout out, but alas my memory fails me yet again and all I remember was that it was in Torrance.

Anywho.... I picked out this tank, tried it on, and showed Jules.  She didn't think it would really work for me but I had a different opinion and obviously purchased it.  I think it goes wonderfully with many of my other items and besides it is my favorite, black and white!  Yay!  Love it!

Okay, to the outfits.  I personally like both of these outfits, but I think the tank works far better with the black skirt than the white one.  I think that having most of the outfit being black and only the tank being something different really makes it stand out much more.  With the white skirt, it could look good, but I think I would need to pair it with a different sweater.  The ombre sweater, which I adore, just detracts from the overall look of the tank and makes that outfit just look too busy.

But maybe my opinion is just a bit biased as the outfit in black has given me one of my favorite head shots:

Which is what I gave to Sally to post with my bio over at Already Pretty.  So maybe because I like that photo so much, I am inclined to pick that outfit as looking better.

Maybe you have a different opinion? Do you like one outfit more than the other?  Do you not like either outfit?  Maybe you hate the tank top entirely.  So remember, it is not about the overall outfit, just about how I wore this particular tank top.

How Did I Wear it Better? - Sweater

I so prefer the outfit with the black skirt.  I think there are a few things about it that make it the far better outfit.  One would be the black color of the skirt.  I think that it totally makes the white and black zig-zag stripes totally pop.  It also makes the few purple zig-zag stripes also far more noticeable.

Another thing I really like is the use of the belt.  The wide belt at the smallest part of my torso really draws in the eye and helps adds to the illusion of hips.  I am not wearing any hip pads in either outfit, but I think with the black skirt it actually looks like I have a bit of hip! Woo-Hoo.

I also think the slightly higher length of the black skirt is more flattering.  With the skirt hitting my legs right there it also helps to add to the illusion of having hips, as well as showing the curves of my calves far more than the jean skirt.

Another benefit of the outfit with the black skirt is the style of wedge that I am wearing.  The shoes allows for most of my feet to be showing, this combined with the higher length skirt really helps to make my legs look longer.  The sandals with the straps happens to cut my feet off at a higher location and thus giving the appearance of a shorter leg.

So.... Those are my thoughts about it, what about you?  Am I missing something forgiving about the outfit with the jean skirt?

Same skirt and same tank, two different outfits; which one do you think looks better?  My opinion is the outfit with the leggings.  Besides the fact that I feel way more comfortable with leggings on with such a short skirt, I think the black on my legs with the white on my arms makes for a more balanced look with my body shape.  The oft thought aspect of black is that it makes things recede from your vision, but I think with these two outfits, seeing them side by side, the black sweater makes my upper half look very stocky.

I love the look of my legs, I think they are super nice, but my eye is totally drawn upwards towards the black sweater.  And my legs do not necessarily look very shapely, they look more like little twigs sticking out from a rather blocky upper half!  Oddly enough, with the black of the leggings and the black boots I feel as though my eye is drawn more to my legs in that photo than when they are clearly visible.

Wow, colors, and photos, and perspectives, odd!

Anyway, which outfit do you think works better?  Any thoughts as to why you like that one more than the other one?  Am I over playing the appearance of my upper half with the black sweater?

And another thing here folks - "Luke come to the dark side."  Sorry, I always hear that line in my head while thinking of this.  I once read someone say that by advertising on your blog or by monetizing things that somehow you have traveled to the "dark side."  Well apparently then, I am going to the dark side.  I am going to begin to include links on my posts that may lead to commissions for me.  You can read my new disclaimer page if you are really interested.  I am actually kind of hoping that it will be a win-win for the all of us.  Maybe I can get a little compensation for my time here, maybe you can be directed to locations to be able to purchase some of the products, or similar products, that I am showing off here, and maybe it may inspire me to be a bit more active here.  We shall see what will happen in time, huh?

Oh and I am contemplating a move to a self owned Wordpress site.  I will retain my URL, but it would mean that I will be loosing some of the features that are provided by the Blogger platform.
