So Its a Funny Story . . . Dress

That title got your interest, huh? I'll get to that in a moment.

Nadine and I were going to the movies the day I decided to wear this dress. I love the color combinations of this dress (purple and blue greens )and how much it shows off my cleavage. (Yes, I am very proud of my boobs!) I think the empire waist is flattering. But the pleats below the empire waist are not my favorite. The top of the dress has thicker shoulder straps, and I think that is flattering on my slightly wider shoulders. Also, this dress is sooooo comfortable yet cute. I feel a little dressed up, and at the same time, comfy in my clothes. Granted, a few years ago, I did not feel as comfortable showing so much boob, but I have come to really appreciate my breasts and am wanting to show them off more.

Okay,  the story behind the dress. Nadine and I often go shopping together, so as per usual, we were in Target together looking for clothes. We both saw this dress, and again, as per usual, Nadine made up  her mind to pick it up before I did. I chastised myself for not being quicker on the draw. Nadine tried it on and decided she wanted it. I was, again, bummed I did not act more quickly. Nadine wore the dress a few times and then decided she didn't think the dress was flattering. Luckily for me, she was so generous and gave it to me. :) Woohoo!!

So thanks to Nadine, I get to have this dress for my own. One of the many benefits of being a woman married to a transgender man. :) Thank you, honey!!

One that note, I also got these earrings from Nadine. She has a nickel allergy and sometimes, the earrings she buys don't work out. The earrings are a bunch of spiky banana shaped pieces of metal and, I really like the look of them. They are kind of punk rocky. :)

Getting your spouses' hand me downs is just one of the wonderful benefits I get from having a husband who likes to present as a woman sometimes. I have been so blessed to be with someone who pushed themselves to be the best themselves they can be, which sometimes means getting rid of things that don't work for them, and then I get. :) :)

Love your life.

Be the best you possible!

Hugs!!

Out and About

Top- White House/Black Market- similar
Shorts- L.E.I.- similar
Shoes- Life Stride- similar

Nadine and I needed to travel to Fresno to get some things taken care of, and I decided to wear this outfit. It takes two hours to get to Fresno so I wanted to be comfortable. I really like these items, but I usually do not wear shorts this short out and about in the world. I usually wear them to the lake over my bikini or to the local market. Yet I decided I needed to just go for it.

This top has a draped neck line, and I love it! I have several other shirts, long and short sleeve, and tanks, that have draping. It seems to me that the draping up by the neck draws the eye to my neck area, which is good because I like my neck and want to show it off. (Kind of an odd body part to really like, but my neck is long and in my opinion, makes me look regal.) The color is a lighter teal color, which is definitely in my color palette. Blue is one of favorite colors to wear, in almost any shade.

The shorts are a light denim with white embroidered flower that have a crystal as the center of the flower. (Sorry there is no close up-still learning what to take pictures of for my posts here.) They have a little bit of jean fringe at the bottom, which many years ago I refused to wear. I had the idea that the fringe would tickle and bother me. It doesn't; in fact, I think it adds something to the shorts. (Interesting what ideas we have in our heads that are really not true, just made up fears by our magnificent brains.)  Although I was apprehensive about wearing what I consider short shorts, the day went great, and I did not get any weird comments or looks at my shorts, (No pitch forks or torches either. Hee-hee.) I was glad to be able to show off my legs, and not for the usual reasons most people like to show their legs. It has been almost 2 years since I shattered my left tibia, and now I am almost back to 100% usage and mobility. Also, the leg is all me since recently having the hardware taken out. I am very proud of the scar because it reminds me how hard I have worked to get where I am today.:) In my opinion, scars are our proof we lived through something hard, and you all should be proud of your scars, too.

I wore a pair of tri-metallic colored wedge sandals for our outing. They are comfortable and cute with a small heel, which was great because I had not worn a lot of heels since the surgery. A small wedge is so great for walking in or wearing all day at work; they are feminine yet functional, a big plus for those of us who are on our feet most of the work day, or for any time you're going to be out and about for the day.

Love how you are, but never stop trying to better yourself!   Hugs!!!!!!!!!!

Mani/Pedi Day :)

Top- Banana Republic- similar
Shorts- Denizen
Shoes- Unity by Carlos Santana- similar

Nadine and I went for our regular manicure and pedicure when I wore this. We go every 2 to 3 weeks and almost always get both our nails and toenails done. I soo recommend this to everyone! Men and women, go do it if you have never done so! By the way, if you feel apprehensive about doing this, (regardless of how you are presenting), I have been to many, many different salons with my SO, with him presenting as a man ad a woman, and we have always been treated just like everyone else. Also, I have seen men and women at these salons of all ages getting nail work done, and they are all treated the same! Give your fear a rest and go for it! I bet you will find it is wonderful.

I really like this top!! Of course, its in blue, one of my preferred clothing color choices. It also has awesome tear shaped cut outs around the neck line, so cute! I think these cut outs give this kind of plain shirt some flare. It is a stretchy material that makes it very comfortable, as well. This shirt is fairly casual yet I have worn it with a skirt, too.

The shorts have made an appearance in one of my posts here. They are a white denim like material. These shorts are a go to for me; they are cute, comfortable, and versatile. I do really like being comfortable, especially when going to the nail salon. It seems to me that most people have some clothes that they wear more often than others.  I do, I really do!

The shoes are a very flat leather flip flop. They are great for pedicures because they slip on very easily after having my toes painted. My favorite part of these flip flops are the little silver hearts attached tot he straps. Each heart has a little crystal in them that looks like a diamond. So cute!

Also I wanted to show off my nails that I got in honor of the fourth of July. As you can see above, my toes are painted blue and red; my fingers somewhat match, just a little fancier. The nail designs were my idea, which is kind of rare as I usually look up nails on Pinterest and copy one of them.

That is all from me today. Hope you are well and in good spirits!

Go out and try something new! You never know, you might jest love it!!

HUGS!!!

A Fun Day Out at the Movies

Top- WH/BM- similar
Shorts- Denizen
Shoes- Italian Shoe Makers- similar

We went to see a movie in the morning and it was HOT! We went to see Jurassic World, which was pretty good compared to the last two. We have been together since before the Jurassic series was out in the theaters. We have seen all the movies together and in the theaters so it was a little nostalgic. Yeah we've been together a while. :)

The top from WH/BM is my favorite no bra top. Yes, I wrote that. :) I love not wearing a bra when I can, and the summer is a great time for doing so. This top is a black halter racer back top with an embroidered au par waist. I did not photograph the back, but it has a silver ring that makes the racer back. I think this top is super cute and am so ready and willing to wear no bra to be able to wear this top. I loooove it!

The shorts are basic white shorts that I got from Target. They don't fit as well now that I am a little smaller. But they work out pretty good for now. They are a thicker material, comparable to a denim material. I wear them often to go out and about when I would like to look a little nicer (as compared to my house wear or a quick errand).  I am sure these shorts will re-appear in future posts from me.

I love these earrings!! They are sort of a Gypsy looking pair of earrings.  It is kind of hard to see but there is a brown stripped tear shaped rock at the top of the earring. I love that they move around as I walk. Basically, they are fun and pretty!

Hugs!!!

A Night Out

Dress- White House/Black Market- similar
Shoes- Merona- similar

Nadine and I went out for a great evening of comedy to see Eddie Izzard. Although it was an evening concert, I knew it was going to be warm if not hot so I opted to wear a dress.

I love this dress for several reasons. First, I like that it is sleeveless. I feel so comfortable with my arms out ans free, especially when its warm. Second, the stripes are flattering, which is odd because they are horizontal. Yet they help to accentuate my waist. Last, I love this color pink. It is sort of a dusty pink which I think is a good color pink for me and there is not too much of it. The wrong pink or too much pink washes me out because of my skin color.

The purple flats I am wearing are my favorite flats. I love purple, and these flats are such a great pop of color with so many outfits. They are faux suede and have a cute bow on the front. I can wear them with shorts, dresses, or pants. I wear them often enough that I know they will wear out sooner than I'd like.

You may notice the bandage on my leg. That is from the surgery I had on May 29th to remove the plate and 10 or so screws from my tibia. It is healing well and will be good to go sooner than later,

A Day at the Movies

I suppose it would be foolish to say that I am introducing my wife being as many of you are well acquainted with her already.  She has already written a post for my site and contributed on another.  But here is a fabulous aspect of my wife that you have not been privy to yet, her own personal style!  I am so excited as she has agreed to attempt to become a regular outfit contributor to my site, not just a guest writer!  You may also visit her on her own blog.  So without further ado, please welcome Jules!

Hi all!! Jules Spirit here. I was graciously asked by my wife, Nadine, to be a fashion contributor to her blog. So I figured, what the heck?! It intimated me just thinking about doing it, so I decided, I must do it!

I have just gotten into some fashion in the last several years or so. I have been and am still usually a jeans and tee shirt girl. But as Nadine and I have been going out more and more over the last 10 years, I began to see that I do care, on some level, about fashion.

I wore this outfit to a morning movie outing on a fairly warm day; we saw Pitch Perfect 2, which was fantastic!! ( I guess I am a little biased as I loved the first movie and like musicals.)

This outfit has several things that are a part of my personal style likes: bold colors, zippers, and comfy, cute shoes.

The shirt is from Nine West, but I have no idea where I got it.  I love this color and have since I was probably 12. I have a school picture from that age in which I am wearing a shirt this same color. I think it goes well with my skin and now a days, my red hair. (Yes, I do dye it.) The other thing this shirt has that I often look for in clothing and shoes are zippers. Zipper are my thing! They are kind of edgy yet can be done in a classy way that is not too punk or alternative.

The shorts are Merona, which is a Target brand. I do shop at Target and find that if I look, I can find some cute items there. When I first saw these shorts, they seemed too bright a color for shorts. But needless to say, I took them into the dressing room and after trying them on, had to have them.  I like that I can pair them with another bold color or with a neutral, and they look great every time. I also like that they show off my long legs.

Lastly, the shoes I am wearing are a 2 1/2 inch wedge backless sandal. I have had them for several years and have worn the brand name off the inside of the shoe so I have no idea who made them. They were one of the first pairs of shoes I bought in a brighter color. (They are an ocean blue.) I like these shoes so much because they are girly, fashionable, and comfortable. Since breaking my leg very badly in 2013, I do not wear many high heeled shoes, yet I have worn these many times since then because of how comfortable they are.

I still have a ways to go with finding my own style, yet I am getting there.

What is your style? Do you know? I would say that it is definitely worth looking into.

Thank you so much for reading my first (and hopefully not my last) fashion post here on Unordinary Style.

Hugs!!
